To all who have voiced your concerns for our friends, artists, colleagues and the people of Japan, we thank you for your compassionate and sympathetic messages. We are still in the process of reaching out but thus far are relieved to know that none of our friends, artists or colleagues were hurt or severely affected by Friday's earthquake and subsequent tsunami. However, some members of their families who resided in the Miyagi, Iwate and Fukushima regions are suffering or have yet to be located. Our hearts and deepest sympathies go out to the tens of thousands of people and their families who have been devastated by these events.
Should you wish to help, Japan Society has set up a fund for immediate relief to those affected by the disasters of March 11, 2011. Your tax-deductible contribution will go to organizations that directly help victims recover from the effects of last week's earthquake and tsunami. 私どもの友人、アーティスト、同僚そして日本に住む人々に対し、思いやりのメッセージを寄せて下さった全ての方々に対し、心より感謝を申し上げます。連絡をとろうと試みている段階ですが、今のところでは金曜の地震とそれに続く津波によって、負傷あるいは甚大な被害を被った方はおりません。しかしながら、宮城県、岩手県、福島県などの東北関東地域に住むご家族が、苦しい状況下にいらっしゃる、あるいは行方不明の方々がいらっしゃいます。今回の地震による数万人の被災者の皆様に 対し、謹んでお見舞いを申し上げます。
2011年3月11日の地震で被災した人々を支援するため、ジャパンソサエティでは義援金の受け付けを開始しました。課税控除対象となる寄付金は、直接組織の元へ届けられ、被災者が先週の地震と津波から立ち直るために役立てられます。詳しい情報と基金の受け付けについてはこちらのウェブサイトをご覧ください。
