In our upcoming Zoom talk, we are excited to bring together a dynamic panel of renowned ceramic artists and educators whose artistic careers have been shaped by time spent in both Japan and the United States, countries with very distinct approaches to ceramic art. Rooted in centuries of tradition, Japanese ceramics have long emphasized both technical mastery and functional forms. The United States, on the other hand, has become a hub for experimentation free from the strictures of convention. In this Zoom talk, our panelists will reflect on the role that each of these environments have played in fostering their remarkable artistic careers.
Panelists:
JUN KANEKO, artist
SUZUKI GORÅ, artist
RICHARD BRESNAHAN, artist and educator
REE KANEKO, arts administrator, consultant, and curator
Moderated by Joan Mirviss, our latest Zoom Gallery Talk, "The Transpacific Connection: Ceramic Influences between Japan and the United States," will take place on Tuesday, September 30, from 5-6:30 pm EST.
