Winter Antiques Show: Park Avenue Armory
-
As we prepare to celebrate a new year and new president, we are excited to invite you to the 55th annual Winter Antiques Show. This year promises to be exceptional as the fair's dateline policies have changed allowing for the exhibition of modern art. For the first time, we will be offering mid 20th-century ceramics.
With artwork acquired during two extended trips to Japan this past year, our selection of Japanese paintings, prints, screens, decorative arts—including work by ceramic masters—will make this year's presentation stand out from previous fairs. Painting highlights include an exquisite diptych of spring and fall by TANI BUNCHÔ, a dramatic double-sided, single-panel standing screen by SUZUKI SHÔNEN and KISHI CHIKUDÔ, and a hanging scroll of autumn grass in moonlight by MORI IPPÔ. Noteworthy woodblock prints include pristine kabuki prints by KATSUKAWA SHUNSHÔ and KATSUKAWA SHUNKÔ, fine examples from UTAGAWA HIROSHIGE's "One-hundred Famous Views of Edo" series including "New Year's Eve Foxfires" and "Bamboo Yards, Kyôbashi Bridge," and a broad selection of landscapes by KAWASE HASUI and YOSHIDA HIROSHI. In addition to our selection of elegant bronzes and baskets, we will be showcasing works by the pioneering clay artists KAWAI KANJIRÔ, HAMADA SHÔJI, and KITAÔJI ROSANJIN, as well as lacquer by KAMISAKA SEKKA.
