With recently acquired material in Japanese paintings, prints, screens and decorative arts, this year's presentation promises to be one of our best. Highlights include superb bird-and-flower paintings by KISHI GANKU, NAKABAYASHI CHIKKEI and NAGASAWA ROSETSU, as well as a pairs of screens by KISHI CHIKUDÔ and MATSUMURA KEIBUN. Noteworthy woodblock prints include early impressions from the "100 Famous Views of Edo" by UTAGAWA HIROSHIGE, fine landscape scenes by KAWASE HASUI including his celebrated snowy "Zôjô Temple," exceptional Yokohama-e triptychs, and a wide range of shunga. As in past years, we will also return with a selection of elegant bronzes, baskets, and a set of lacquer hand-warmers by KAMISAKA SEKKA.
