Maeda Masahiro retrospective at Joan B Mirviss LTD
Featured in Yomitime weekly publication November 10, 2023YOMITIME 2023年11月10日号 Vol.458 前田正博の回顧展 スタイリッシュな作品を展開 「Playing with Pattern」 日本を代表する現代陶芸家のひとり、前田正博の回顧展が11月2日(木)から始まり12月15日(金)まで、アッパーイーストの画廊、ジョーン・B・マービスで行われている。題して「Playing with Pattern (パターンで遊ぶ)」。開廊時間は平日午前11時から午後5時まで、入場無料。 前田は、人間国宝で現代の色絵磁器の第一人者といわれた藤本能道のもとで陶芸を学び、東京藝術大学を卒業。在学中から数々の賞を受賞するなど頭角を現していた。古典的な色絵の絵柄とは全く異なるイラストレーションの様な植物や鳥の柄と、カラフルな柄を合わせ、前田独自の色絵の技法・作風をつくり出した。近年は柄だけでなく器のカタチにより重きを置き、マスキングテープを使用した幾何学模様と繊細な金銀の装飾を施すなど、スタイリッシュな作品を展開している。 前田の作品は日本国内美術館だけでなく、ブルックリン美術館、フィラデルフィア美術館など世界中の美術館に収蔵。本展は、国内外で高く評価される前田の50年以上に渡るキャリアを、ニューヨークで一堂に鑑賞できる貴重な機会。 ■11月2日(木)〜12月15日(金) ■会場:Joan B Mirviss Ltd 39 E. 78th St. Suite 401...Read more -
